The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Director George H. Sheldon made a stop in Rochelle on Tuesday.

State Representative Tom Demmer and Director Sheldon discussed several issues local providers and DCFS offices have been faced with. As a member of the Human Services Appropriations Committee, Rep Demmer offered some ideas to help streamline DCFS services to better serve those in need.

“The Department of Children and Family Services has seen a number of problems and challenges over the past several years. I was encouraged to meet with Director Sheldon today and hear about the proactive reforms he’s implementing at DCFS,” said Rep. Demmer, “I’m pleased to work with DCFS to improve the safety and quality of care we provide to children throughout Illinois."

Director Sheldon stressed the agency's goal, which is to protect children by strengthening and supporting families.

State Representative Tom Demmer hosted IDOT Secretary Randall Blakenhorn at Rochelle City Hall on November 13.

The public meeting was to update local officials on current projects and future plans for the area. Secretary Blankenhorn focused on planning for future transportation needs while listening to the needs discussed by local officials.

Besides the Secretary's visit,  Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti made an appearance before a scheduled stop to tour the Rochelle Foods Hormel plant.
